How Many Ways?
Many people believe there are countless ways to gain eternal life and that faith in almost anything will lead to heaven. However, Jesus Himself declared that there is only one way to receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life: through Him alone.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name [Jesus Christ] under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. – Acts 4:12
While God is very specific about how sin is forgiven and eternal life is obtained, He is also very compassionate:
The Lord is… longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish… – 2 Peter 3:9
God offers eternal life as a free gift to all who will receive it through faith in Jesus Christ.
For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners… – Romans 5:19
God created Adam and Eve, the first man and woman, and gave them the ability to choose between good and evil. When they disobeyed God, their nature became sinful—and this sinful nature has been passed down to all of their descendants, including you and me. As a result, we are spiritually separated from God.
Because of our sinful nature, we naturally choose to disobey God. This makes us sinners by both birth and choice.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. – James 4:17
The Bible tells us that sin is universal:
…There is none righteous, no, not one. – Romans 3:10
Do you understand that you are a sinner?
For the wages [payment] of sin is death… – Romans 6:23
Death is a reality we all must face, and the Bible describes it in three distinct ways:
1.Spiritual death: This is the lost spiritual condition into which we are all born. Because of Adam’s sin, we are spiritually dead, separated from God, and unable to have fellowship with Him.
…dead in trespasses and sins.
– Ephesians 2:1
2. Physical death: This occurs when our physical body stops functioning. But physical death does not mean we cease to exist.
And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.
– Hebrews 9:27
3. Eternal death: This is eternal separation from God in hell, a place of conscious torment. Those who do not trust in Jesus Christ for salvation will experience this forever.
And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
– Revelation 20:14
Do you understand that the consequence of sin is eternal separation from God?
… by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. – Romans 5:19
Now that you understand the penalty for sin, consider the significance of Jesus Christ’s death. Jesus, God’s only Son, was fully God and fully man.
…Jesus the Son of God… was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. – Hebrews 4:14–15
The eternal Son of God became a man in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life and willingly died on the cross to pay for the sins of every person who has ever lived.
But God commendeth [proved] his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. – Romans 5:8
After His death on the cross, Jesus was buried and rose again from the dead, proving His victory over sin and death.
…I declare unto you the gospel… how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures. – 1 Corinthians 15:1,3–4
Do you understand that Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for your sin?
…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved… – Acts 16:31
Heaven is a perfect place where no sin is allowed. Yet, we are all sinful. God has made it clear that sin incurs a debt that must be paid before we can enter heaven. Jesus paid that debt for you, providing the only way to eternal life. To receive this gift, you must believe in Him.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. – John 3:16
Believing is more than acknowledging that Jesus existed or was a good example.
Believing means trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life. You must believe that He died for your sins, rose from the dead, and is the only way to heaven.
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. – Romans 10:9
Has there been a time in your life when you placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Saviour?
Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. – James 4:14
Many of us think we have plenty of time to consider eternity and place our trust in Jesus Christ. But the Bible warns us that life is uncertain.
Boast not thyself of to morrow; For thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. – Proverbs 27:1
Since we cannot know how much time we have left, it is vital to prepare now for eternity. Are you ready to stand before God and give an account of your life?
Would you like to believe on Jesus Christ as your Saviour right now?
Express Your Faith In Jesus Christ
Your decision to receive Jesus Christ as your Saviour is more than answering questions, learning the truths, and checking the boxes. It is agreeing with God's Word about your sin and your need for a Saviour. It is placing your faith in Jesus Christ alone.
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13
You can express your desire to be saved by praying (talking to God). You can ask Jesus to save you by praying similar to this:
Pray Sincerely
"Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and deserve to spend eternity in hell. I believe that You died on the cross, taking the punishment I deserve for my sin, and that You arose from the dead. I place my faith in You alone to forgive my sin and save me. Thank You for giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
If you have received Jesus Christ as your Saviour as a result of reading The Importance of One, please let us know! We are happy for your decision.
